Hey friends! I’m so excited to share a little about what it was like at home with the Malone’s this past April! This is the second post in a new series to the blog, which aims to invite you in to see how I practice what I preach, and document my own family story!
Life Lately
We’ve been busy this April, and I’ve taken the most photos I’ve taken in a longgggg time of my little lady, which has been such a nice change. Between a busy Fall season, followed by a rocky first trimester with baby #2, our own family photos got put on the back burner. I’m glad that I have the energy and time for our personal family photos again and am excited to share what we’ve been up to this month!
We went strawberry picking with our buddy Rhys over Spring break!
We rolled around in the grass.
We hunted for Easter eggs with Greeby and Papa…
…and then hunted for more eggs with Granna and PaPete.
We spent some time with our cousins in Georgia…
…. and ate oatmeal for breakfast on the counter.
And we celebrated Easter Sunday at home!
It was a busy month for the Malones with this one on Spring Break, and we loved every minute! Although let’s be honest… it was pretty awesome when school started back up! Insert awkward smiley emoji hereeeeee.
Baby #2
This belly is GROWING! Overall I feel like this baby is so much bigger and stronger than James was this far along. He moves NON-STOP, and his kicks and rolls feel so strong, dare I say aggressive at times haha! There have already been many times where his kicks about knock the wind out of me, and we still have three months to go of this little boy getting stronger. Whew.
Here’s a peek at this month’s weekly bump photos! In true baby #2 fashion, we’ve missed a week here and there, and I think most of these were taken any where from one to 3 three days late. I was also OBSESSED with all of my photos looking super consistent in the way they were edited and cropped with James so that they looked the SAME, but this time… ain’t no body got time for that. Sorry, buddy! We love you though!
20 Weeks
22 Weeks
23 Weeks
And for kicks, here’s a look at 23 weeks with James!
I did a post on my Instagram stories the other day so you could ask your most burning questions about baby #2! Here are my answers to your questions!
Do you know what you’re having?
Yes! It’s a boy! Here’s a peek at our gender reveal video, which was so fun to do.
Do you have a name picked out?
We do! But shhhh, we aren’t sharing publicly until he gets here in August. Since we found out gender so early, and since we already know his birthday (thank you, scheduled c-section!), I wanted to keep one last little surprise to share. I can’t wait to share his name, and the story behind it!
How have you been feeling?
I’m not going to lie, this pregnancy has been hard for me to enjoy! I have no real reason to complain, because baby is healthy, and praise God I have had no complications and a pretty easy time. But pregnancy with a toddler is NO JOKE. I feel like I’m constantly exhausted, and day to day tasks just feel like a lot of work at times. I was joking with a friend the other day that getting James dressed and out the door in the mornings feels like a full body workout. I also got winded leaving a voicemail the other day. Eeek!
I was feeling down on how big and out of shape I felt, when my mom gently reminded me that I’m 6 months pregnant! When you say it like that vs. a number of weeks, it helps you realize that you have 6 month of baby in that belly, so there’s a reason for the exhaustion!
Do you think you’ll have more kids after this?
I always thought I’d have three kids. In my head they were all girls! haha! God had another plan for our family, and we will be blessed with a boy and a girl. More than likely, baby boy will complete our family, but I’m also not confident enough in that to say we are totally complete as a family of four. Logistically and financially, two kiddos makes sense for us though, so more than likely, we’ll be complete with two kiddos. Time will tell, I think!
What has been your biggest craving?
ORANGES. How weird, right!? Since the very beginning of this pregnancy I have craved oranges – both the whole fruit and in juice form. Citrus in general has been really appealing, and lately I’ve been getting a citrus fix with a splash of lemonade in my water (a squeeze of lemon won’t do, it’s gotta be lemonade!).
Things We’re Loving
Life has been full of simple pleasures lately with the turn of the weather! We’ve been trying to get outside as much as possible, and James LOVES being outside. A $5 big bouncy ball has provided endless entertainment for this little biscuit.
I also got James into the studio this month to snap some photos of her in the sweetest little dress. This dress was a $3 find at Switcheroos this Spring, but I’m kind of in love with it on her. All hail dress weather because popping a dress over her head is SO MUCH easier than struggling with her to get her dressed in pants, a shirt, socks, boots, the works. Whew.
She is changing SO fast, and there have been moments this month where I hardly recognize her because she is looking like such a big girl. She is also talking up a STORM, often times leaving us laughing with her antics and random requests, observations and general toddler adorable-ness.
What We’re Looking Forward To
James is currently taking ballet classes (although please don’t get me started on how much I regret signing her up… her social calendar is RIDICULOUS), and we have her recital in the middle of the month. I don’t have super high expectations for this event, but putting her in a little costume will probably be super adorable, and I can’t wait to share a few photos!
She’s also taking swim lessons this month, and we can’t wait to get in the pool and relax at the beach this Summer!
