One of my favorite moments in the studio is the quiet in between moment, when a child forgets they are being photographed and their true personality begins to show.
This sweet little guy took a bit of time to warm up. He was thoughtful, observant, and very attached to his mama, which is completely normal. And yes, there may have been a very important red truck involved in the process that had to be edited out later, but that is all part of the experience. Eventually, we got there, and the result was a portrait that feels genuine and full of heart.
As a Greenville child photographer, I have learned that no two children walk into my studio the same way. Some are immediately comfortable, while others need time, patience, and reassurance. My role is not to force a moment, but to gently discover what makes each child feel safe and confident.
For this session, Shaggy stayed on his mom’s lap, and that was more than okay. If you have hesitated to book a session because your child is shy or does not love being far from you, please know that we can still create beautiful portraits.
