There’s something really special about getting to photograph a family through multiple seasons of their story.
Not too long ago, I was in this same home capturing big brother’s milestone session (you can take a look here!). At the time, he was the baby – brand new and still settling into his own little personality. Walking back through their front door for this in-home lifestyle newborn session felt like stepping into a beautiful “then and now.” Only this time, he greeted me as the proud big brother.
And let me tell you… he absolutely understood the assignment.
Even though he’s not quite two years older, he was such a ham for the camera. He’s the kind of toddler who brings energy, personality, and just enough unpredictability to make everything feel real and alive. He kept us laughing the entire time, popping in and out of moments, sneaking in snuggles, and making sure his little sister knew he was right there.
Those are the moments I love most.
The day itself couldn’t have been more perfect. Soft, beautiful light poured through the windows, and Maren’s nursery was calm and serene – the kind of space that instantly makes you exhale. Neutral tones, gentle textures, and just enough simplicity to keep the focus exactly where it should be: on this brand new little life and the family surrounding her.
Lifestyle newborn sessions like this are never about perfection. They’re about connection. Mom looking adoringly at her TWO little ones. Tiny fingers wrapped around dad’s hand. A big brother who can’t quite sit still but also can’t stay away. The in-between moments, the movement, the realness of it all—that’s what tells the story.
And what makes it even more meaningful is knowing this isn’t the first chapter I’ve documented for them. Watching families grow, seeing little ones step into new roles, and preserving these fleeting seasons in the very place they’re happening… it never gets old. It’s an honor every single time.
