My husband’s family has spent a long weekend at the High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, NC every summer for the last 32 years, and I am so grateful to now be a part of this amazing tradition. The only way I can think to describe it is “family camp.”
There are no TVs and there is very little cell phone service, so the only entertainment around is each other. We spend our days golfing (or riding the course in my case), eating amazing food in the cozy High Hampton dining hall, swimming in the lake, and spend our evenings singing on the porch. Everything about it whisks you away to a simpler time, and it is so peaceful and fun to be there with everyone. We count down to the trip all year long, and immediately start the countdown from the beginning the second we leave.
We can’t wait for next year when we will have our very own little one to share in the tradition with! I can’t wait for James to experience all the fun of High Hampton as she grows up.
