Capturing heirloom portraits is always a special experience, but it becomes even more meaningful when working with families who have been long-time clients. James Henry’s recent session was a perfect example of why I love creating these timeless portraits. With his bright personality and playful energy, we had a wonderful time documenting this season of his childhood at 2 years old!

A Legacy in the Making
This beautiful family has been with me for years (ever since his big sister did a first birthday session with me several years ago!), and it’s been an honor to photograph them as they’ve grown. James Henry is their second child, and with a third on the way, these portraits will become an even more treasured part of their family’s story. I can’t wait to capture another newborn session for them, and to add more images to their family legacy.
A Playful Yet Classic Session
One of the things I love most about heirloom portraits is the way they capture a child’s essence in a refined and timeless way. While we focused on the classic, hand-painted backdrop and traditional styling, James Henry brought so much joy and personality to the session. From sweet smiles to a little bit of giggling, his playful spirit made this session unforgettable.
For families who want a little extra storytelling beyond the formal portrait, I offer a lifestyle add-on, which brings a relaxed and candid element to the experience. We played, we laughed, and we captured some truly heartfelt moments that complement the polished heirloom portraits beautifully.

Behind the Scenes
One of the best parts of this session was capturing some behind-the-scenes footage! I love giving parents a glimpse into the process—how we create these timeless portraits while also making the experience fun for little ones. Be sure to check out this Instagram post to see James Henry in action! I’m confident he didn’t even know he was having his photo taken because we were too busy having FUN!
